Polygraph Examinations
Polygraph Examinations or Lie Detector Tests are often used in conjunction with pre-employment checks or when employee theft is suspected.

If employee theft is suspected, The Employee Polygraph Protection Act of 1988 requires that the employer or business must:

• Have suffered a specific economic loss
• The employee to be tested had access to the missing property or loss
• The employee is suspected of involvement in the missing property or loss beyond mere access.
• The employee must be notified in writing of the request to take the exam at least 48 hours (not including weekends or holidays) prior to the scheduled exam.
• The employee must be advised of the incident under investigation
• The employee must be advised of their legal rights and that the exam is voluntary
